WORD-NUTRITION THEORY

A Conceptual Framework for Internal Linguistic Nourishment, Executive Self-Leadership, and Organizational Performance

Abstract

This paper introduces Word-Nutrition Theory, a conceptual framework showing how inner language, self-talk, identity statements, and repeated mental word patterns influence leadership performance, emotional regulation, culture formation, and organizational behavior.

The theory proposes that the words a leader habitually uses internally — in thought, self-description, and internal narrative — function as a form of cognitive and emotional nourishment. Just as physical nutrition shapes the body’s capacity for performance, internal linguistic patterns shape a leader’s capacity for decision-making, resilience, self-direction, and sustained organizational impact.
